Description

Sinclair Yao Daley in Ghana was inspired by a legendary character in the creation of this unique mask. There was in ancient times a man in Kpando-Fesi (in the Volta region) who wore his hair long, and it had never been combed or trimmed. He was perceived to be a holy man in that area, and so even now his descendants maintain the same long and bushy hair in his honor. The mask is carved of native sese wood and painted in black and brown.
